STANDARDS

Standards Grade Level/Course Bookmarks and Vocabulary Inserts
The Washington State Mathematics Standards for each grade level and high school course have been formatted to fit on one page. Using tabloid paper (11" x 17"), you can create a "bookmark" that contains the narrative paragraphs on one side with the performance expectations on the other side. An enhanced version of the elementary and middle school standards bookmarks has been created to contain formatting (bold and italicized text) based on the Measurements of Student Progress (MSP) Item Specifications for grades 3 through 8. The Vocabulary Inserts include information from the MSP Item Specifications for grades 3 through 8.

Layouts

Printing

When printing the bookmarks, select tabloid paper (11" by 17"). The vocabulary insert is printed on letter-size paper (8.5" by 11"). In both cases, it is critical that the masters are printed at 100% of the original. Since the outside margins are very narrow (0.25 inch), the pdf printer driver will default to a reduced version of the original. Using the drop-down menu, select "none" and image should return to 100% of original. If this is not done, when folding both the bookmark and vocabulary insert you will have text on your fold lines.

  Folding

For each grade level bookmark, copy masters front and back. Fold in half with the cover page on the outside. Take each half section and fold the outside edge to the center fold line. The cover should look as above. When you open the first level, you will see the remaining narative paragraphs. The performance expectations are the last layer when the bookmark is fully opened.

For the vocabulary insert, copy masters front and back. Fold in half with the vocabulary terms on the outside.

  Mathematics Strands
  Graphic Representation

The adjacent slide has two graphs depicting the percentage of performance expectations for each strand within the grade levels identified. Please note, the chart treats each performance expectation within one grade as equivalent without taking into consideration that some performance expectations will have greater instructional implications.

  High School Strands Document
The High School Strands Document is a compilation of all Core Content paragraphs, Performance Expectations, and Examples for one content strand. This format shows how the mathematics for that strand develops across grades.  The strands include Numbers, Operations, Algebra, Geometry/Measurement, and Data/Statistics/Probability. (Process strand was not included)
